Letter to the Annapolis County Spectator

Dear Editor:

On behalf of Port Royal Branch 21 of the Royal Canadian Legion, I want to thank everyone who contributed to our recent Remembrance Day observations.

Because I don’t want to forget anyone, I’m hesitant to start naming the many individuals and groups whose volunteer efforts accomplished the preparation for, and execution of, the day’s activities, thereby making it so successful. Those people know who they are and I hope they will accept this collective expression of gratitude.

I also want thank the general public who came out to the Remembrance Day observations. It is most gratifying to see the community center filled to capacity the way it was on the 11th. It tells us that people do remember and want to pay tribute to those who fell, as well as those who were prepared to do so, if that was to be their fate. It renews our determination to work even harder at our mandate as a branch of the Legion to keep that memory alive in honour of their sacrifice. Also, at this time in our history, when young Canadian men and women are once again involved in conflict, which has claimed far too many lives, let’s not forget to honour and perpetuate their memory as well.

Once again, our thanks go out to all of you.

Also, on behalf of Branch 21, I would like to take this opportunity to wish one and all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy and Healthy New Year!

Sincerely

Phillip Kent

President, Br. 21 RCL
