A masked man wearing gloves broke into the Quik-way store in Centreville at 12:37 a.m. Tuesday.

The thief smashed the glass in the door to gain entry and in less than three minutes filled a bag with cigarettes. As the alarm rang, he jumped into a waiting vehicle and disappeared.

A home on Sherman Belcher St. in Centreville was also broken into the same night and a number of electronic items stolen.

The thief broke a pane of glass in the back door to gain access to the residence. Police are investigating both incidents.
