David Brown Transport could reuse former poultry processing buildings in New Minas if a development agreement with the County of Kings is approved. The Cambridge-based company has applied on behalf of the property owner, Atlantic Poultry Inc., for a development agreement for properties at 64 Minas Warehouse Rd.

The purpose would be to allow the reuse of the former poultry processing buildings for dry storage, office space and a truck maintenance facility. The remainder of the property would be used for parking for transport trucks and trailers.

Property owners within 500 feet of the proposed development have been sent letters dated May 20 from County of Kings planer Ian Watson inviting them to a public information meeting on June 12 at 7 p.m. at the New Minas civic centre at 9489 Commercial St.

The relevant planning policies will be reviewed and the process to be followed during the municipal review of the proposed development agreement will be explained. An early overview of the proposal will be given and questions and comments from the public will be received. Residents within 500 feet will be further notified if the application proceeds to a public hearing at Kings County council.
