Centreville farmers have been named growers of the year by Loblaw.
Nova Agri Farms (Country Magic) of Centreville received the Grower of the Year award April 24 in Halifax.
“Receiving this award is a tremendous honour. We don’t expect to be rewarded for things we consider being part of our regular business practices,” said Nova Agri marketing and sales manager Andrea Palmer. “There are many deserving growers in Atlantic Canada.”
The award was based on food safety, quality, corporate social responsibility and for being customer-centric. Those qualities have been Nova Agri’s focus for the County Magic products over the past few years, Palmer said.
It’s not just management that should be recognized, she added, but also the workers who are focused on quality products.
In addition to receiving the award, Nova Agri’s bloo juice has been accepted as a finalist in the Canadian Grand Prix new products award, which show cases products new to Canadian grocery stores. The winners of that award will be announced on June 4 in Toronto.
