According to the Annapolis Valley Real Estate board, home sales in August were comparable to the same month in 2012.
Residential sales recorded through the MLS System amount to 119 units in August 2013; one more unit than sold in August 2012. Residential sales activity in all of Nova Scotia rose by two per cent on a year-over-year basis in August. Total properties sold through the system was 149: up one per cent from the year before.
“Home sales were little changed on a year-over-year basis in August, with the average price of those sales posting a modest increase,” said board president Lisa Giancarlo. “In fact, it was actually the fifth year in a row that sales activity in the month of August has come in within short reach of the 120 mark.”
The average price of homes sold in August 2013 was $151,676, according to board statistics - a 1.2 per cent increase from August 2012 – with a total value of approximately $18 million.
The number of active residential listings is up four per cent from the year before – with 1,648 active residential listings on MLS at the end of August.
