A new Tim Hortons is in the cards for Windsor.
Joan Langille, the owner/operator of two Tim Hortons restaurants in Windsor and one in Hantsport, is opening another location in the old Robin’s Donuts building off of the Wentworth Road roundabout.
Langille says the new restaurant, set to open in November, will create 25 new jobs in an area that has been hard hit by job loss in the last few years, bringing her total staff count to about 150.
But she’s not about to take all of the credit.
“What I do can’t be done by just me; it’s done by my team.”
Langille says she anticipates an era of growth in the near future — especially with major development plans in the works for the area near the roundabout — and Tim Hortons will be ready to serve as demand increases.
“From all of the homework I’ve been doing, we’re just about ready to grow. There’s supposed to be a development out on the corner behind where I am, so that’s why the expansion [is happening] now instead of later,” she said.
“It may be a couple of tight years until they get that development done, but I believe it’s going to happen… and I’m willing to invest in the community as they invest in me every day when they come in to get their coffee.”
The existing locations will also be upgraded with a new look that includes fireplaces, TVs and new seating, Langille said.
The Windsor waterfront and Hantsport locations will be furnished with outdoor patios that, Langille hopes, will quickly become congregating places in the communities.
Langille says working for Tim Hortons has its perks. Employees are eligible for benefits, scholarship programs and advancement within the company.
Applications for the new store will be accepted at the Windsor waterfront location.
