While the screen at the Valley Drive-In may be dark for the winter, members of the Coldbrook Lions Club are already looking ahead to the 2013 season by embarking on improvements to their Cambridge facility.
Re-facing of the projection screen with new material began recently. The work involves removing the existing screen panels and replacing them with a new high-grade plastic material.
“They are supposed to last for many years and will never need painting,” commented Lion Kirk Longmire on the drive-in’s Facebook page. He added tests on the new screen material indicate it will also improve picture clarity.
This work follows on the heels of upgrades made to the projection room to insulate the digital projector during the winter months. This involved building a warm room around the equipment to protect it from cold and humidity.
