The liquor store in Windsor is raking in millions.
Rick Perkins, the vice president of business development and communications for the Nova Scotia Liquor Corporation, said the NSLC in Windsor sold $7,258,030 worth of products from 2010-2011. The store collected $3,620,349 in beer sales, sold $2,182,151 worth of spirits and recorded $1,095,375 in wine sales from April 2010 to March 31.
The NSLC’s 106 retail stores and 54 agency outlets generated about $581.6 million in revenue as of year end, $223.2 million of which was categorized as net earnings in a July 20 press release issued on behalf of the corporation.
“Twenty-eight stores had sales of seven million or higher, and Windsor ranked 25th out of 106,” said Perkins in a follow up interview.
Westphal, Dartmouth, is home to the top-selling location for 2010, which boasted more than $15.6 million in sales.
Perkins said the gross sales in Windsor remained on par with those recorded in the previous year, despite figures sketched in the 2010 Annual Report that suggest Windsor ranked within the Top 10 selling locations.
“The sales for the year ending on March 31, 2010 is incorrect in the annual report. Those reported for Sackville are Windsor’s and vice versa. So, the sales the previous year in Windsor were almost $7.279 million, or virtually the same,” he explained in an email.
Perkins said the size of the market and price point of products purchased in a community attribute to a store’s total sales.
