The Hants Regional Development Authority’s Board of Directors recently announced the appointment Paul McGinn to the position of Executive Director. McGinn began work October 19. “We are excited to have Paul join the Hants RDA team and continue leading economic development in Hants County,” said Rick Gaudet, Chair of the Hants RDA Board. “Paul brings extensive experience and an impressive track record to our agency.”

McGinn comes to Hants County from the Schooner Regional Development Corporation in Marystown, Newfoundland, where he has been Executive Director for the past four years. Under his leadership, Schooner RDC facilitated significant job creation, created international trade alliances with the islands of St. Pierre and Miquelon and positioned itself as one of the first regional economic development organizations in Newfoundland to adopt performance-based funding.

Prior to joining Schooner RDC, McGinns economic development career has included Development Officer positions at ACOA, the Red Ochre Regional Board and CBDC Humber. He is a graduate of St. Francis Xavier University, with a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Business Administration. “I’ve heard about the progressive work the Hants RDA has been doing, and I’m really looking forward to getting started with the team” McGinn says. He notes the Hants RDA is a recognized leader in business retention and expansion; has recently completed its first international immigration mission; is leading a multi-region Bay of Fundy tourism strategy; and is the first RDA to measure its performance using a quarterly balanced scorecard.

McGinn and his wife have two children, aged 9 and 11. “My family and I love the area, and we’re excited to make the move to Hants County,” he says. The move to Nova Scotia brings them closer extended family.

McGinn replaces Ryan MacNeil in the post. MacNeill has taken an interchange assignment with ACOA.
