All hearts at Hantsport home

Red hearts hang everywhere in the oldest home in Hantsport.

The colour radiates on the balcony, as scarlet light reflects off snow-covered ground and a huge heart flag blows in the wind.

Beverley Delany Murray lives at 30 William Street. She loves to decorate her home for the holidays, and her passion for jazzing up the place extends to Valentine’s Day. “It’s refreshing to be able to continue to brighten the place up - even after everyone else has taken down decorations from Christmas,” Delany Murray says. “The house looks less dark and dismal on the street with all the lights up. I figured it’d be good to keep going. “Now people expect to see the house all dolled up and they always wonder what’s next.”

Delany Murray says, for Valentine’s Day, “I just look for sparkly red or silver things. Often I take decorations from Christmas and turn them into ones for Valentine’s Day. “I enjoy decorating and I love doing it for the community and myself. I just enjoy it because other people enjoy it as well. It’s a little glitter for the winter.”

Plus, people look at the house and may remember to buy a Valentine’s Day gift, Delany Murray adds. “Then, couples can enjoy the holiday and be happy they have each other.”

Delany Murray hangs ornament for other occasions: St. Patrick’s Day is the next big project.
