Dr. Farish married Sarah, daughter of Captain Jacobs, a mariner. The couple had three sons and three daughters. Sarah, a nurse in the Boer War, was a daughter. She died in Liverpool and was buried with full military honours. Another daughter, Antoinette Forbes lived for years abroad before returning to Liverpool to reside in 1942. It is said that hundreds of women wept over Dr. Farish’s grave in respectful living memory of his attendance for maternity cases.
He named some new streets in Liverpool, such as Jubilee and Park streets. He was lamented in this community through properties given by him. He built his home on Main Street on the opposite side of the street of the Mersey Hotel. Dr. J.C. Wickwire practiced out of this home for years, and it is now owned by lawyer Allan Fownes.
Dr. Farish was a loved benefactor of Liverpool. His memory of things Liverpool were astounding. He also produced maps of Liverpool streets, where he marked there on the houses that citizens built from the time of his coming to Liverpool.
He was a strong member of Liverpool's Anglican Church, and a memorial window, for his wife, erected by his children is to be seen at Trinity Anglican Church in Liverpool.

Dr. Henry S. Farish was the son of Captain A.S. Farish of the British Army, and his wife Florence. He was born in Gibralter in 1820, and came to Liverpool from Yarmouth in 1858, and began a medical practice. He was a highly regarded physician, and a popular man in Queens County. He was also the first person to represent Queens County politically after Confederation in 1867.
