Car seat clinic

July 27

On Friday, July 27 the Insurance Bureau of Canada will promote its Be Smart, Be Safe Program at the Yarmouth Mall parking lot from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Also, the Buckle Up Bears Program will be holding a car seat clinic from 1-4:30 p.m. If it rains the clinic will be held at the Yarmouth fire hall.

Legion events

July 28

The Mary Power Memorial Dart Shoot takes place at the legion on Saturday, July 28 from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Contact for the dart shoot is Robert Saulnier at 742-9838.

Pancake breakfast

July 28 and 29

A pancake breakfast will be served in the Mug Up Tearoom at the Cape Forchu Lighthouse from 8-11 a.m. on Saturday, July 28 and Sunday, July 29. The breakfast will include pancakes, sausages and a beverage for $5 per person. For more information, call the lighthouse at 742-4522 or e-mail yarlighthouse@eastlink.ca.

Family beach party

July 29

The Department of Leisure Services will host a family beach party at Port Maitland Beach on Sunday, July 29 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Activities will include a bouncy castle, beach volleyball, water games, tug of war, sand castle contest, parachute games and a scavenger hunt. For information contact 742-8868.

July 30

The Yarmouth County Historical Museum will play host to an Evening of Jazz with Double Take (Vickery Twins Tom and Don) and saxophonist David Caldwell on Monday, July 30 at 7:30 p.m. $12 at the door.

Yard sale

Aug. 4

The Masonic Hall in Hebron will host a yard sale on Saturday, Aug. 4 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Rain or shine.

Card games

Aug. 11

Skip-Bo games at the Masonic Hall in Hebron from 1-4 p.m. Refreshments mid afternoon. Prizes awarded. To reserve a table, contact Carol Weir at 749-1617 or Louise Seeley at 742-2580.

Family fun day

Aug. 18

There will be a free family fun day at the South End playground on Saturday, Aug. 18 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. There will be free hotdogs, drinks, games and prizes. For more information, contact the Evangel Assembly at 742-2069.

Day camp July /August A free summer day camp for children 6 to 11 years of age sponsored by Juniper House began July 9. There will be seven one-week camps held at Central School between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. daily. Arts and crafts, outdoor play, daily topics and related activities (e.g. self- esteem, angry feelings), lunch and snacks provided. Registration is required. Boxing registration

Boxing and martial arts registration is scheduled for July, starting July 9, 6-7 p.m. at the Milo boat club. For additional dates contact Garland Johnson, 742-8260. For ages 16 and 19.

Dance party and lessons

Ballroom and latin dance party, Mondays, 8 p.m., Rotary Centre in Hebron on the Cemetery Road. Light refreshments. Dance lessons Mondays, 7 p.m. at the Rotary Centre. Phone 761-2487 for information.

Hall of fame nominations

Nomination forms for the 2008 Sports Hall of Fame can be picked up at the hall of fame site (Lovitt Plaza), 368 Main St., until Sept. 30.

The Yarmouth Art Society is having a summer show at the Yarmouth County Museum and Archives until Sept. 15.

BALLROOM DANCE CLASSES

Wednesdays

ATV meetings
