Xantrex names new president, COO

Vancouver-based Xantrex Technology Inc. named a new president and COO on Thursday to lead its marketing, product development and manufacturing operations.

Greg Brown takes the role after nine years with Schneider North America, a manufacturer of equipment for electrical distribution, industrial control and automation. Most recently, he was president of Schneider Mid-Americas.

"Greg Brown brings skills to the Xantrex team, which are very important to our company's success," Mossadiq S. Umedaly, chairman and CEO of Xantrex, said in a statement. "His experience managing integrated operations in multiple countries will be invaluable as he streamlines our operations and establishes an overall quality strategy for Xantrex."

Xantrex, with 700 employees, manufactures and markets advanced power electronic and control products for back up systems and to convert raw electrical power, such as that from solar, wind and microturbines. Its products are used in backup power systems used during power outages, in vehicles, and in semiconductor manufacturing and medical equipment.
