Osaka, Japan-based Matsushita said it expects to post a loss of 68 billion yen (US$560 million) for the first six months of its fiscal year, compared to the previously expected loss of 45 billion yen.
Despite the lowered earnings forecast, Matsushita, which makes Panasonic, said it still expects to post six-month sales of 3.38 trillion yen.
Many businesses with investments in other firms have had to revise their targets, due to a fall in Japanese share prices. The main index for Tokyo share prices has been trading at a 17-year low.
Matsushita plans to report its earnings for the first half of its fiscal year on Oct. 30.
