United States stayed below 400,000 for the third week in a row. Analysts believe the

trend is a signal that the hard times are over for U.S. job market.

New claims for state unemployment benefits totalled 385,000 in the week ended Aug. 4., a slight increase from 352,000 claims the week before. The results were

higher than the forecasted 380,000 given by analysts from Briefing.com

The new claims are totalled every four weeks and are considered the most reliable

indicator of jobless trends. Continued claims from workers who already have

claimed at least a week of benefits increased to 3.09 million in the week ended

July 28 after a total of 2.99 million the week before.
