ZIM Technologies International Inc., headed by Ottawa tech mogul Michael Cowpland, said Monday an already-existing partnership will be extended to provide AAA, the main roadside assistance organization in the U.S., with leading-edge wireless technology.

Topics :
AAA , Tracker Management Systems

Cleveland-based Tracker Management Systems Inc. has been chosen as AAA's preferred supplier of communications systems and software for dispatching roadside-assistance trucks.

Part of this equipment will involve ZIM's specialty, wireless communications gear. ZIM has been collaborating with Tracker to develop wireless systems suited towards dispatch organizations like AAA. The collaboration is focused on developing systems that can be operated completely by wireless phones.

"With the critical need to get the right information to the right people at the right time, the towing and roadside assistance industry is perfectly suited to the new direction in wireless," Cowpland, ZIM's CEO, said in a statement. "We are very excited to be able to work with AAA and Tracker to make this happen, and see huge potential for the application of this technology to a broad range of industries."
