Edwards General Signals to fireproof DND

Nepean's Edwards General Signals of Canada has been awarded a lucrative contract with the Department of National Defence.

The company will be responsible for upgrading and maintaining the fire prevention systems at DND headquarters on Colonel By Drive.

The contract is valued at roughly $420,000 and was awarded by the federal Ministry of Public Works and Government Services.

The work will be done on the building's fire alarms, pre-action sprinklers, fire hoses, fire extinguishers, emergency lights and kitchen fire suppression.

Forty jobs will be maintained as a result of the contract, which expires in mid-December 2002.
